- The blog features the writings of Bennett under his avatar, the Field Negro, as well as comments from a loyal cadre of readers.
- The blog now averages approximately seventeen thousand page views per week, and has had almost seven million page views since its inception.
- The blog is ranked as one of the top political blogs by Technorati, which tracks over 12 million blogs world- wide. Among African American blogs, the Field Negro is consistently one of the top ten blogs in terms of authority and readership.
- The Field Negro blog has won numerous blogging awards, including the Black Weblog Awards for best political blog.
